Me!
It’s a pleasure to be able to share with you all that I was recently featured in an article by the BBC. The piece focuses on how my experience with hybrid working ended up benefiting me more than I initially thought it would. I never thought I’d be the subject of a feature article, but I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my story and reveal that hybrid working really isn’t so bad.
For context, I work at a digital marketing agency in the UK, and like many others, I was initially resistant to the idea of hybrid working.
The BBC article, which you can read here (https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20230317-the-workers-quietly-backtracking-on-return-to-office), explores the phenomenon of employees who, like me, are quietly backtracking on their initial fear around returning to the office. In my case, I found that hybrid working gave me the best of both worlds. I could enjoy the flexibility and autonomy of working from home while still benefiting from the structure and routine of going into the office a couple of times a week.
Of course, hybrid working isn’t for everyone, and I fully appreciate that some people thrive on the social interaction and routine of going into the office every day. However, I hope that my story can provide some reassurance to those who are feeling uncertain about the transition back to the office. It’s okay to change your mind and to explore different options that work best for you and your lifestyle.
